About AIBubbleFAQ

Last updated: July 20, 2026

Short version: AIBubbleFAQ is an independently run publication that tracks AI market valuations, hardware prices, and cloud-vs-local economics, and turns them into a live Threat Index, a hardware buy/wait tracker, and a cost calculator. It is not investment advice.

What this site does

AIBubbleFAQ exists to answer one question in as much detail as the data allows: is the AI market overbuilt, and what does that mean for the price of the hardware developers actually buy? We combine three things — live market data, a rolling feed of AI-summarized industry news, and hand-curated hardware pricing — into tools you can check daily instead of guessing from headlines.

How the Systemic Threat Index is calculated

The Threat Index starts from a baseline of 50 and moves from there based on two real, disclosed inputs:

  • News impact: every ingested story is scored 1–10 for how strongly it signals AI market stress. Each story's contribution to the index is (threatScore − 5) × 1.5, summed across all stories published in the trailing 48 hours — so a wave of critical stories moves the index more than one outlier headline.
  • Market volatility offset: if the Nasdaq closes down more than 2% on the day, the index adds 15 points of threat; if it rallies more than 1%, the index subtracts 10. Otherwise this term is zero.

The result is clamped between 0 and 100 and recalculated daily. It's a real, mechanical formula — not a vibe — and we're publishing it here so you can judge it rather than take it on faith.

How news briefs are produced

Story selection and first-draft summarization are AI-assisted: incoming coverage from outlets like Seeking Alpha, Barchart, and other financial and tech press is condensed into a threat score, a plain-language summary, and a short structured brief. Every brief links back to the original source at the top of the page — treat our summary as a fast read, and the original article as the source of record for direct quotes or exact figures.

How hardware verdicts are decided

The Hardware Tracker's Buy Now / Wait for Drop / Overpriced verdicts are based on tracked street pricing (wholesale liquidation, refurbished marketplace listings, and direct B2B pricing) against each item's own recent price trend, not a fixed target price. Affiliate eligibility never factors into a verdict — see our Affiliate Disclosure for how those links work and how we're compensated.

What this site is not

Nothing on AIBubbleFAQ — the Threat Index, hardware verdicts, or the ROI Calculator — is financial or investment advice. It's directional, data-driven analysis meant to help you track a fast-moving market and time hardware purchases, not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.
